I am a scientist, and senior software engineer, working in the bio-medical informatics field since the year 2000. My extensive background in software engineering and my great interest in cutting edge technologies provide the necessary scaffold for me to transform the ideas and needs of fellow scientists into production-quality software enabling technological innovations in research environments.

I began my scientific career investigating methods for formal representation of computerized clinical practice guidelines. I designed and co-developed a guideline-based decision support system named Guide, which combined guideline decision support with the power of clinical workflow management systems. Later on, in between others, I co-developed the rdf visualizer Welkin for the SIMILE project and founded the JDPF (Java Data Processing Framework) project, a modular and extendable open source infrastructure for processing big quantities of heterogeneous data.
I am currently in Boston where, leveraging semantic web technologies, I am focusing on creating online knoweldge management software tools for scientific communities. Since the beginning of 2010 I became the project lead of several projects including SWAN (Semantic Web Application in Neuromedicine) and Semantic Resources. I continue to work as a consultant for bringing innovations in clinical information systems with the ultimate goal of enabling continuity of care and disease management.
